Our restorative nursing and rehabilitation team is made up of registered nurses, licensed practical and vocational nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. All of these members of our rehabilitation team work together to promote independence, safety, and help each resident attain their highest functional ability.
Our physical therapists are professionally trained to diagnose and treat movement dysfunction with the use of physical and mechanical methods. These methods often include the use of massage, heat, exercise, and light treatment.
Plans of care may include:
- Mobility training
- Exercise to increase strength, range of motion, and endurance
- Balance facilitation to assist and educate in fall prevention
- Modalities to address pain management
- Facilitating proper body mechanics to assist in preventing future injury
- Promoting safety awareness
Our occupational therapists treat those whose functional abilities have been impaired by illness, injury, or aging. They work with residents to encourage independence and improvement in activities required for daily life.
Areas of treatment within occupational therapy may include functional independence, maintenance of wellness, prevention of further disabilities, or increasing safety awareness.
Speech and Language Therapy
Our speech pathologists make individualized plans with residents to improve areas of chewing, swallowing, communication, fluency, and cognitive communication impairments. Our speech and language pathologists most often treat those affected by stroke, brain injury, and challenging cognitive issues.
Pet Therapy, Music Therapy, and Art Therapy
At Auburn Ravine Terrace, we understand that the rehabilitation process can be difficult. We offer pet therapy, music therapy, and art therapy in order to lift spirits and ease the burdens of rehabilitation. We believe in focusing on all-around wellness, and we take care of our residents in order to help them attain their highest functional ability.
Our professionally trained and compassionate therapists work with residents to improve the health of their heart. Cardiovascular therapy is individualized to the needs of each patient, and our rehabilitation team strives to get each resident as healthy as possible.
Our social services department seeks to help each resident attain their highest practicable physical, mental, emotional, and psychosocial health. We are aware of the worth and uniqueness of each individual, and we treat each resident with respect.
Our social services department creates a stimulating atmosphere for our residents. We also foster a supportive environment with the residents by ensuring each resident has adequate decision making opportunities, providing tours for potential residents and families, assessing psychosocial health, and guiding each care plan. We spend a great deal of time working with both residents and their families during difficult transitional periods.
